If you have a firewall installed on your computer try the test to see how effective it is, you can also use this link to see how easy it is for a third party to use you computer when you are on line and have no protection. After doing the firewall test try the Opt Out test. You have to download the program on to your computer (31.5k) and run it to see if any spy software is installed on your PC. The information on the Opt Out web page makes interesting reading and goes to show that everything on your computer is not as secure as you might think, even though you have the latest antiviral update. For more information on spy ware and other downloadable programs try Spy Checker. Diallers have become a problem recently, some are visible some are hidden, some started by screensavers, some by a set of keystrokes but however they start they all try to connect you to premium line numbers costing £1.50 GBP upwards. You think you are connected by your normal ISP but the dialler has reconnected to another number without your knowledge. No program can be 100% effective but SPY-BOT does a good job providing that you run the scan and download the updates regularly. If you live in the UK and are a BT customer you can get premium numbers bared via the operator, but to have them reinstated you have to inform BT by writing. BT have a program on their site which will inform you if you computer is trying to dial out to premium line numbers, perhaps worth looking at. I have not tried it, follow the link bellow to download it. PROGRAMS
